The Prophet ﷺ raced me and I beat him. Time passed, and when I had grown heavier with weight, he raced me again and beat me. He said, "This one is for that one."
حدثنا سفيان عن هشام عن أبيه
سابقني النبي ﷺ فسبقته فلبثنا حتى إذا رهقني اللحم سابقني فسبقني فقال هذه بتيك
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it 3/29 no. 2578, and Ibn Abu Shayba 12/508 no. 15435, both in jihad, and Ibn Majah 1/636 no. 1979 in marriage, and Ibn Hibban 318, 1310 Mawarid.
