The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would be in spiritual retreat in the mosque and would extend his head out to me, and I would wash it while I was menstruating.
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل عن الأعمش عن تميم بن سلمة عن عروة
كان رسول الله ﷺ يعتكف فيخرج إلي رأسه من المسجد فأغسله وأنا حائض
Its isnad is sahih. Tamim bin Salama is al-Sulami, and he is trustworthy, his hadith appears in Muslim. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari, 1/401, no. 295, in Fath al-Bari, in the chapter on itikaf, and Muslim, 1/244, no. 297, in the chapter on purification, and Abu Dawud, 2/333, no. 2469, and Tirmidhi, 3/158, no. 804, who said, hasan sahih, all of them in the chapter on fasting, and Ibn Majah, 1/565, no. 1778, in the chapter on purification, and Darimi, 1/161, no. 1058.
