Junada Azdi reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a Friday, accompanied by seven men from al-Azd, making me the eighth, while he was having his midday meal. He said, "Come and join the meal."We replied, "Messenger of Allah, we are fasting."He asked, "Did you fast yesterday?"We said, "No."He asked, "Will you fast tomorrow?"We said, "No."He said, "Then break your fast."So we ate with the Messenger of Allah. When he went out and sat upon the pulpit, he called for a vessel of water and drank from it while on the pulpit, with the people watching, showing them that he does not fast on Friday.

حدثنا يزيد بن هارون: أخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب، عن مرتد بن عبد الله اليزني، عن حذيفة الأزدي،

عن جنادة الأزدي، قال

دخلت على رسول الله ﷺ في يوم جمعة، في سبعة من الأزد، أنا ثامنهم، وهو يتغدى، فقال: هلموا إلى الغداء. قال: فقلنا: يا رسول الله، إنا صيام. قال: أصمتم أمس؟ قال: قلنا: لا. قال: فتصومون غدا؟ قال: قلنا: لا، قال: فأفطروا. قال: فأكلنا مع رسول الله، قال: فلما خرج وجلس على المنبر، دعا بإناء من ماء، فشرب وهو على المنبر، والناس ينظرون، يريهم أنه لا يصوم يوم الجمعة.
