A man came to the Prophet ﷺ after the noon prayer and asked, "Prophet of Allah, may one of us pray in a single garment?"The Prophet ﷺ remained silent. When the time for the afternoon prayer arrived, he untied his lower wrap, layered it together with his outer cloak, and then draped them across his shoulders. After he completed the afternoon prayer and finished, he said, "Where is he?" meaning, where is the one who asked about praying in a single garment?A man said, "Here I am, Prophet of Allah."He said, "Does every person find two garments to wear?"
حدثنا أبو النضر: حدثنا أيوب: حدثني
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ بعد الظهر، فقال: يا نبي الله، يصلي أحدنا في الثوب الواحد؟ قال: فسكت، حتى إذا حضر العصر، حل إزاره فطارق بين ملحفته وإزاره، ثم توشح بهما على منكبيه، فلما قضى الصلاة - صلاة العصر - وانصرف، قال: أين؟ يعني أين هذا السائل عن الصلاة في الثوب الواحد؟ فقال رجل: أنا يا نبي الله. فقال: أوكل الناس يجد ثوبين؟
