The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us, or came in, while we were in the mosque, and in his hand was a stick. A man had hung up bunches of dried, inferior dates, and the Prophet ﷺ struck that bunch with the stick. Then he said, "If the owner of this charity had wished, he could have given something better than this in charity. The owner of this charity will eat these inferior dates on the Day of Resurrection."
حدثنا يحيي بن سعيد عن عبد الحميد يعني أبا جعفر قال حدثني صالح بن أبي عريب عن كثير بن مرة الحضرمي
خرج علينا رسول الله ﷺ أو دخل ونحن في المسجد وبيده عصا وقد علق رجل أقناء حشف فطس بالعصا في ذلك القنو ثم قال لو شاء رب هذه الصدقة تصدق بأطيب من هذا إن رب هذه الصدقة يأكل الحشف يوم القيامة
