While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day, he looked up at the sky and said, "This is the time when knowledge is about to be taken away."A man from the Ansar named Ziyad bin Labeed said to him, "Will knowledge be taken away, Messenger of Allah, when we have the Book of Allah among us and have taught it to our sons and our wives?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "I used to consider you one of the most understanding people of Madinah." He then mentioned the misguidance of the People of the two Books, even though they possessed what they possessed of the Book of Allah .Jubayr bin Nufayr met Shaddad bin Aws at the prayer ground and related this hadith to him from Awf bin Malik. Shaddad said, "Awf has spoken the truth." Then he asked, "Do you know what the taking away of knowledge means?"I said, "I do not know."He said, "It is the departure of those who carry it." Then he asked, "Do you know which knowledge will be the first to be taken away?"I said, "I do not know."He said, "Humility, until you can hardly see anyone with humility."
