Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When your brothers were struck down at Uhud, Allah placed their souls in the bodies of green birds that come down to the rivers of Paradise, eat of its fruits, and take shelter in lamps of gold in the shade of the Throne. When they tasted how sweet their drink and food were, and how excellent their resting place, they said, 'If only our brothers knew what Allah has done for us, so that they would not lose interest in jihad or shrink back from battle.'Allah said, 'I will convey your message to them.'"So Allah revealed these verses to His Messenger, "And do not think of those who have been killed" [Al Imran 3:169].
