Bilal reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to inform him that it was time for the prayer.Abu Ahmad said, while he was intending to fast.He called for a cup, drank from it, and gave me some to drink as well. Then he went out to the mosque for the prayer and stood to pray without performing ablution, intending to fast.

حدثنا يحيى بن آدم وأبو أحمد قالا حدثنا إسرائيل عن أبي إسحاق عن عبد الله بن معقل المزني

عن بلال قال

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ أوذنه بالصلاة قال أبو أحمد وهو يريد الصيام فدعا بقدح فشرب وسقاني ثم خرج إلى المسجد للصلاة فقام يصلي بغير وضوء يريد الصوم
