Ibn Abu Hadrad reported,

He mentioned that he had married a woman, so he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking his help with the dowry. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "How much did you set as the dowry?"He said, "I told him, two hundred dirhams."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Even if you were scooping up dirhams from this valley of yours, you could not have added more. I have nothing to give you."He said, I waited a while, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for me and sent me out with a raiding party heading toward Najd. He said, "Go out with this raiding party. Perhaps you will gain some spoils, and I will award them to you."So we set out and reached the encampment in the evening. When the early portion of the night had passed, our commander sent us out in pairs. We surrounded the camp, and he said, "When I call out the takbir and charge, then call out the takbir and charge yourselves." When he had paired us off, he said, "Do not separate from each other. I will question one of you about his companion, and if I do not find him with you, you will be held to account. And do not pursue too far in the chase."When we were about to charge, I heard a man from the camp shout, "Khadrah!" I took it as a good omen that we would gain green spoils from them. When the night grew dark, our commander called the takbir and charged, and we did the same. A man passed by me with a sword in his hand, and I went after him.My companion said to me, "Our commander instructed us not to pursue too far. Turn back."But when I saw I had no choice but to follow him, my companion said, "By Allah, you must turn back, or I will return to him and tell him that you refused."I said, "By Allah, I will follow him."So I pursued him, and when I drew near, I shot him with an arrow that struck the bare part of his back. He fell and called out, "Come closer, Muslim, to Paradise!" When he saw I would not come near him, I shot him with another arrow that wounded him severely. He threw his sword at me but missed. I took the sword and killed him with it, then cut off his head. We rounded up many camels and sheep, then returned. The next morning, I saw that my camel was tied to another camel carrying a beautiful young woman. She kept turning to look behind her and saying the takbir.I asked her, "What are you looking back for?"She said, "For a man, by Allah, if he is still alive, he will catch up with you."I said to myself, thinking it was the man I had killed, By Allah, I have killed him. This is his sword hanging from the saddle of the camel I am riding. The sword's sheath, empty, was hanging from the saddle of her camel. When I told her this, she said, "Then take this sheath and slide the sword into it, if you are telling the truth."So I took it and slid the sword in, and it fit perfectly. When she saw that, she wept.We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gave me a share of those camels we had brought back.
