Arqam Zuhri, or Ibn Abu Arqam, who had been appointed over the collection of charity, passed by Abu Rafi and asked him to come along with him.Abu Rafi said, "I went to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about that."He replied, "Abu Rafi, charity is forbidden to Muhammad and to the family of Muhammad. The freed servant of a people is considered one of them."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أنبأنا سفيان عن ابن أبي ليلى عن الحكم بن عتيبة
مر علي الأرقم الزهري أو ابن أبي الأرقم واستعمل على الصدقات قال فاستتبعني قال فأتيت النبي ﷺ فسألته عن ذلك فقال يا أبا رافع إن الصدقة حرام على محمد وعلى آل محمد إن مولى القوم من أنفسهم

Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Abu Rafi is Ubaydullah mentioned previously, and he is a trustworthy narrator among the well known figures, whose hadith is found among the group, and he was a scribe for Ali.The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud 2/123 no. 1650, Tirmidhi 3/84 no. 657, who said it is hasan sahih, Nasai 5/107 no. 2612, and Ibn Khuzayma 4/57, all of them in the chapter on zakat, and Bayhaqi 7/32 in the chapter on charities.
