Ibn Abu Layla reported,

Sahl bin Hunayf and Qays bin Saad were sitting in Qadisiyyah when a funeral procession passed by, so they stood up. They were told, "It is only one of the local inhabitants."They replied, "A funeral procession once passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he stood up. He was told, 'He is a Jew.' He said, 'Is he not a soul?'"

أن سهل بن حنيف وقيس بن سعد كانا قاعدين بالقادسية فمروا بجنازة فقاما فقيل إنما هو من أهل الأرض فقالا إن رسول الله ﷺ مروا عليه بجنازة فقام فقيل له إنه يهودي فقال أليست نفسا
