Miqdad bin Aswad reported,

When we arrived in Medina, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ grouped us in tens, meaning ten in each house. I was among the ten with whom the Prophet ﷺ stayed. We had nothing but a single ewe whose milk we were eager to drink. Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was late returning to us, we would drink and leave his share for the Prophet ﷺ.One night he was late, and we went to sleep.Miqdad bin Aswad said, "The Prophet ﷺ has stayed out a long time. I do not think he is coming tonight. Perhaps someone has invited him."So I drank his share. Later in the night, he came and entered the house. Having drunk what I drank, I could not sleep.When he entered, he gave the greeting of peace softly, not loudly, then turned toward the cup. Finding nothing in it, he remained silent, then said, "O Allah, feed whoever has fed us tonight."I jumped up, took the knife, and went to the ewe.He asked, "What are you doing?"I said, "I am going to slaughter her."He said, "No, bring her to me."I brought her to him, and he wiped her udder. Something came out, and he drank, then slept.

حدثنا أسود بن عامر حدثنا أبو بكر عن الأعمش عن سليمان بن ميسرة عن طارق بن شهاب

عن المقداد بن الأسود قال

لما نزلنا المدينة عشرنا رسول الله ﷺ عشرة عشرة يعني في كل بيت قال فكنت في العشرة التي كان النبي ﷺ فيهم قال ولم يكن لنا إلا شاة نتحرى لبنها قال فكنا إذا أبطأ علينا رسول الله ﷺ شربنا وبقينا للنبي ﷺ نصيبه فلما كان ذات ليلة أبطأ علينا قال ونمنا فقال المقداد بن الأسود لقد أطال النبي ﷺ ما أراه يجيء الليلة لعل إنسانا دعاه قال فشربته فلما ذهب من الليل جاء فدخل البيت قال فلما شربته لم أنم أنا قال فلما دخل سلم ولم يشد ثم مال إلى القدح فلما لم ير شيئا أسكت ثم قال اللهم أطعم من أطعمنا الليلة قال وثبت وأخذت السكين وقمت إلى الشاة قال ما لك قلت أذبح قال لا ائتني بالشاة فأتيته بها فمسح ضرعها فخرج شيئا ثم شرب ونام
