I traveled to Sham and met Kaab, who would relate to me from the Torah while I would relate to him from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Eventually we came to mention the Day of Jumuah, and I told him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "In Jumuah there is an hour during which no Muslim happens to be asking Allah for some good without Allah granting it to him."Kaab said, "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. It occurs once every year."I said, "No."Kaab reflected for a moment, then said, "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. It occurs once every month."I said, "No."He reflected for a moment, then said, "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. It occurs once every Jumuah."I said, "Yes."Kaab then asked, "Do you know which day that is?"I asked, "Which day is it?"He said, "On it Allah created Adam, on it the Hour will arrive, and every creature on it is attentive and listening, except the two species burdened with responsibility, the jinn and humans, out of fear of the Resurrection."I then traveled to Madinah and informed Abdullah bin Salam of what Kaab had said.He replied, "Kaab is mistaken."I said, "But he came around to agree with what I said."He asked, "Do you know which hour it is?"I said, "No," and pressed him eagerly, "Tell me, tell me!"He said, "It is between Asr and Maghrib."I said, "How can that be, when there is no prayer at that time?"He replied, "Did you not hear the Prophet ﷺ say, 'A servant remains in prayer as long as he is in his place of prayer waiting for the prayer'?"

قدمت الشام فلقيت كعبا فكان يحدثني عن التوراة وأحدثه عن رسول الله ﷺ حتى أتينا على ذكر يوم الجمعة فحدثته أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن في الجمعة ساعة لا يوافقها مسلم يسأل الله فيها خيرا إلا أعطاه إياه فقال كعب صدق الله ورسوله هي في كل سنة مرة قلت لا فنظر كعب ساعة ثم قال صدق الله ورسوله هي في كل شهر مرة قلت لا فنظر ساعة فقال صدق الله ورسوله في كل جمعة مرة قلت نعم فقال كعب أتدري أي يوم هو قلت وأي يوم هو قال فيه خلق الله آدم وفيه تقوم الساعة والخلائق فيه مصيخة إلا الثقلين الجن والإنس خشية القيامة فقدمت المدينة فأخبرت عبد الله بن سلام بقول كعب فقال كذب كعب قلت إنه قد رجع إلى قولي فقال أتدري أي ساعة هي قلت لا وتهالكت عليه أخبرني أخبرني فقال هي فيما بين العصر والمغرب قلت كيف ولا صلاة قال أما سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول لا يزال العبد في صلاة ما كان في مصلاه ينتظر الصلاة
