We were discussing among ourselves, and we said, "Which of you will go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ask him which deeds are most beloved to Allah?" But we were reluctant for any one of us to stand up. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for us one man at a time until he had gathered us all together, and we began nudging one another.Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited to us, "Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies Allah" [Saff 61:1] up to His words, "It is greatly hateful in the sight of Allah" [Saff 61:3].He said, so he recited it from its beginning to its end.He said, and Ibn Salam recited it to us from its beginning to its end.He said, and Ata bin Yasar recited it to us from its beginning to its end.Yahya said, and Hilal recited it to us from its beginning to its end.Uzai said, and Yahya recited it to us from its beginning to its end.
حدثنا يعمر حدثنا عبد الله بن المبارك أنبأنا الأوزاعي حدثنا يحيى بن أبي كثير حدثني هلال بن أبي ميمونة أن عطاء بن يسار حدثه أن عبد الله بن سلام حدثه أو قال حدثني أبو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن
تذاكرنا بيننا فقلنا أيكم يأتي رسول الله ﷺ فيسأله أي الأعمال أحب إلى الله وهبنا أن يقوم منا أحد فأرسل رسول الله ﷺ إلينا رجلا رجلا حتى جمعنا فجعل بعضنا يشير إلى بعض فقرأ علينا رسول الله ﷺ {سبح لله ما في السموات وما في الأرض} إلى قوله {كبر مقتا عند الله} قال فتلاها من أولها إلى آخرها قال فتلاها علينا ابن سلام من أولها إلى آخرها قال فتلاها علينا عطاء بن يسار من أولها إلى آخرها قال يحيى فتلاها علينا هلال من أولها إلى آخرها قال الأوزاعي فتلاها علينا يحيى من أولها إلى آخرها
