The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Jibreel recited to me in one mode, and I asked him to recite it again. I kept asking him for more, and he kept giving me more, until it reached seven modes."

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال أقرأني جبريل عليه السلام على حرف فراجعته فلم أزل أستزيده ويزيدني حتى انتهى إلى سبعة أحرف
Both its chains are sahih. It is, in reality, two hadiths with two chains. The first is the hadith of Umar bin Khattab, which has already appeared at length and in abridged form in his musnad at 158, 277, 278, 296, 297. The second is the hadith of Ibn Abbas.Miswar bin Makhrama bin Nawfal Zuhri, whose mother was Shifa, the sister of Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, was among the younger companions.The hadith of Ibn Abbas was narrated by Bukhari, 6:222 and 9:20–21. The hadith of Umar was also narrated by Bukhari, 9:21–23.
