What was read to Yaqub al-Udhri, the ally of Banu Zuhrah, includes the report that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked out over the companions of Uhud, and he then mentioned a hadith with the same meaning as the report of Yazid.Yahya bin Saeed narrated to us, from Uthman, that a man in the circle of Abu Uthman said, "Saad, the freedman of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, told me that they had been commanded to fast on a certain day. Partway through the day, a man came and said, 'Messenger of Allah, so-and-so and so-and-so have been overcome by exhaustion.' He turned away from him." Then he mentioned the rest of the hadith.

وفيما قرأ على يعقوب العذري حليف بني زهرة قال أشرف رسول الله ﷺ على أصحاب أحد فذكر معنى حديث يزيد حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن عثمان حدثنا رجل في حلقة أبي عثمان قال حدثني سعد مولى رسول الله ﷺ أنهم أمروا بصيام يوم فجاء رجل بعض النهار فقال يا رسول الله إن فلانة وفلانة قد بلغهما الجهد فأعرض عنه فذكر الحديث
