Abu Wasel reported,

I met Abu Ayub al-Ansari and he shook my hand. He noticed that my nails were long and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Does one of you ask about the news of the heavens while he leaves his nails like the talons of birds, in which janabah, filth, and grime collect?'"Waki on one occasion did not say "al-Ansari." Others said it was Abu Ayub al-Ataki.Abu Abdul-Rahman said, My father said, His tongue slipped, meaning Waki, when he said, "I met Abu Ayub al-Ansari." Rather, it was Abu Ayub al-Ataki.

عن أبي واصل قال

لقيت أبا أيوب الأنصاري فصافحني فرأى في أظفاري طولا فقال قال رسول الله ﷺ يسأل أحدكم عن خبر السماء وهو يدع أظفاره كأظافير الطير يجتمع فيها الجنابة والخبث والتفث ولم يقل وكيع مرة الأنصاري قال غيره أبو أيوب العتكي قال أبو عبد الرحمن قال أبي سبقه لسانه يعني وكيع فقال لقيت أبا أيوب الأنصاري وإنما فهو أبو أيوب العتكي
