The Prophet ﷺ went out after the sun had set and heard a sound, so he said, "It is the Jews being punished in their graves."
حدثنا يحيى عن شعبة حدثني عون بن أبي جحيفة عن أبيه عن البراء
أن النبي ﷺ خرج بعد ما غربت الشمس فسمع صوتا فقال يهود تعذب في قبورها
Its isnad is sahih. It contains three companions, Abu Juhayfa, whose name was Wahb bin Abdullah Suwai, Bara, and Abu Ayub. As for Awn bin Abu Juhayfa, he is among the trustworthy of the successors, and his hadith is found in all six collections. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 2/124, Shab edition, in the Book of Funerals, on seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave, and by Muslim 4/2200, number 2869, in the description of Paradise, and by Nasai 4/102, number 2009.
