Abu Ayub reported,

Whenever food was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he would eat from it as much as Allah willed, then send the rest to Abu Ayub with the mark of his hand still upon it. One day food containing garlic was brought to him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not eat any of it, but sent it to Abu Ayub. His family said something to him about it, and he said, "Bring it close to me, for I need it." When he saw no mark of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ hand on it, he withheld his own hand from it and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.He said, "Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be ransom for you, this food, you did not eat from it. Shall I eat from it?"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "It contained that garlic, and Jibreel عليه السلام seeks permission to come to me."Abu Ayub asked, "Then shall I eat from it, Messenger of Allah?"He said, "Yes, eat."
