Salim bin Abdul-Saluli reported,

We were with Saad bin al-As at Tabaristan, and with him was a group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He asked, "Which of you prayed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"Hudhayfah replied, "I did."He said, "Order your companions to stand in two groups, one group behind you and another facing the enemy. You say the takbir and they all say it together. Then you bow and they all bow together. Then you rise and they all rise together. Then you prostrate, and the group nearest to you prostrates with you, while the group facing the enemy remains standing facing the enemy. When you raise your head from prostration, they prostrate. Then this group withdraws and the other comes forward, taking their place in the ranks. Then you bow and they all bow together. Then you prostrate, and the group nearest to you prostrates while the other group remains standing facing the enemy. When you raise your head from prostration, they prostrate. Then you give the salam and they give the salam to one another. And you order your companions that if any threat from the enemy stirs against them, fighting and speaking become permitted for them."

حدثنا يحيى بن آدم حدثنا إسرائيل عن أبي إسحاق

عن سليم بن عبد السلولي قال

كنا مع سعد بن العاص بطبرستان ومعه نفر من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ فقال أيكم صلى مع رسول الله ﷺ صلاة الخوف فقال حذيفة أنا فأمر أصحابك يقومون طائفتين طائفة خلفك وطائفة بإزاء العدو فتكبروا ويكبرون جميعا ثم تركع فيركعون جميعا ثم ترفع فيرفعون جميعا ثم تسجد ويسجد معك الطائفة التي تليك والطائفة التي بإزاء العدو قيام بإزاء العدو فإذا رفعت رأسك من السجود يسجدون ثم يتأخر هؤلاء ويتقدم الآخرون فقاموا في مصافهم فتركع فيركعون جميعا ثم تسجد فتسجد الطائفة التي تليك والطائفة الأخرى قائمة بإزاء العدو فإذا رفعت رأسك من السجود سجدوا ثم سلمت وسلم بعضهم على بعض وتأمر أصحابك إن هاجهم هيج من العدو فقد حل لهم القتال والكلام
