We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when he said, "I do not know how long I will remain among you, so follow those who come after me," and he pointed to Abu Bakr and Umar. He continued, "Whatever Ibn Masud relates to you, accept it as true."

كنا جلوسا عند النبي ﷺ فقال إني لست أدري ما قدر بقائي فيكم فاقتدوا باللذين من بعدي وأشار إلى أبي بكر وعمر قال وما حدثكم ابن مسعود فصدقوه
