I went out with my master while I was still a young boy and was sent to Hudhayfah, who was saying, "In the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man might utter a single word and become a hypocrite by it, yet now I hear such words from one of you four times in a single sitting. You must enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and urge one another toward goodness, or else Allah will utterly destroy you all with a punishment, or He will set the worst among you in authority over you, then the best of you will supplicate but their prayers will not be answered."

خرجت مع مولاي وأنا غلام فدفعت إلى حذيفة وهو يقول إن كان الرجل ليتكلم بالكلمة على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فيصير منافقا وإني لأسمعها من أحدكم في المقعد الواحد أربع مرات لتأمرن بالمعروف ولتنهون عن المنكر ولتحاضن على الخير أو ليسحتنكم الله جميعا بعذاب أو ليؤمرن عليكم شراركم ثم يدعو خياركم فلا يستجاب لكم
