While a man was praying with his lower garment trailing below his ankles, the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Go and perform ablution."So he went, performed ablution, and returned.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him again, "Go and perform ablution."He went, performed ablution, and returned.The people asked, "Messenger of Allah, why did you order him to perform ablution and then remain silent about it?"He replied, "He was praying with his lower garment trailing below his ankles, and Allah does not accept the prayer of a servant whose garment trails below his ankles."
حدثنا يونس بن محمد حدثنا أبان وعبد الصمد حدثنا هشام عن يحيى عن أبي جعفر
بينما رجل يصلي وهو مسبل إزاره إذ قال له النبي ﷺ اذهب فتوضأ قال فذهب فتوضأ ثم جاء فقال له رسول الله ﷺ اذهب فتوضأ قال فذهب فتوضأ ثم جاء فقالوا يا رسول الله ما لك أمرته أن يتوضأ ثم سكت عنه قال إنه كان يصلي وهو مسبل إزاره وإن الله لا يقبل صلاة عبد مسبل إزاره
