A man reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to speak with him about something that had befallen us during the days of ignorance. I found him seated, surrounded by a circle of people gathered around him, addressing them. He was wearing a coarse cotton waist-wrap.The first thing I heard him say, while pointing with his two fingers, was, "The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim. He does not wrong him nor forsake him. Piety is here, piety is here," meaning in the heart.

حدثنا أبو النضر حدثنا المبارك حدثنا الحسن أن

شيخا من بني سليط أخبره قال

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ أكلمه في شيء أصيب لنا في الجاهلية فإذا هو قاعد وعليه حلقة قد أطافت به وهو يحدث القوم عليه إزار قطن له غليظ فأول شيء سمعته يقول وهو يشير بإصبعيه المسلم أخو المسلم لا يظلمه ولا يخذله التقوى هاهنا التقوى هاهنا يقول أي في القلب
