We were at this Mirbad in Basra when an Arabi came with a piece of leather or a piece of a leather bag. He said, "This is a document the Prophet ﷺ wrote for me."Abu Ala said, "I took it and read it to the people, and it contained the following:'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a document from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, to the tribe of Zuhayr bin Uqaysh. If you establish the prayer, pay the zakat, give a fifth of the spoils of war, the share of the Prophet ﷺ, and the chosen portion, then you are granted the security of Allah and the security of His Messenger.'"We said, "What did you hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "I heard him say, 'Fasting the month of patience and three days of every month removes the rancor of the heart.'"

كنا بهذا المربد بالبصرة قال فجاء أعرابي معه قطعة أديم أو قطعة جراب فقال هذا كتاب كتبه لي النبي ﷺ قال أبو العلاء فأخذته فقرأته على القوم فإذا فيه بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم هذا كتاب من محمد رسول الله ﷺ لبني زهير بن أقيش إنكم إن أقمتم الصلاة وأديتم الزكاة وأعطيتم من المغانم الخمس وسهم النبي ﷺ والصفي فأنتم آمنون بأمان الله وأمان رسوله قال قلنا ما سمعت من رسول الله ﷺ فقال سمعته يقول صوم شهر الصبر وثلاثة أيام من كل شهر يذهبن وحر الصدر
