The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the night prayer surahs such as "By the Sun and its Brightness" and others like it.
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب حدثني حسين بن واقد حدثني
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يقرأ في صلاة العشاء بالشمس وضحاها وأشباهها من السور
Its isnad is sahih, and it is found in Tirmidhi 2/114, no. 309, who graded it hasan, and in Nasai 2/172, no. 999.
