The Negus gifted the Prophet ﷺ a pair of plain black leather socks. He wore them, then performed ablution and wiped over them.
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا دلهم بن صالح عن شيخ يقال له حجير بن عبد الله الكندي
أن النجاشي أهدى إلى النبي ﷺ خفين أسودين ساذجين فلبسهما ثم توضأ ومسح عليهما
Its chain of transmission is daif, because of Dalham bin Salih, whom many have declared daif. Hujayr bin Abdullah Kindi was considered unknown by them.The hadith is hasan. It was narrated by Tirmidhi 5/124, no. 2820, in the chapter on Manners, Abu Dawud 1/39, no. 155, Ibn Majah 1/182, no. 549 and 2/1196, no. 3620, and Bayhaqi 1/282.
