Burayda reported,

Burayda came in to see Muawiya, and there was a man speaking. Burayda said, "Muawiya, give me permission to speak."Muawiya said, "Yes," thinking that he would speak in the same manner as the other man.Burayda said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'I truly hope to intercede on the Day of Resurrection for as many as there are trees and clods of earth on the ground.' Do you hope for that, Muawiya, while Ali bin Abu Talib does not hope for it?"

حدثنا الأسود بن عامر أخبرنا أبو إسرائيل عن حارث بن حصيرة

عن ابن بريدة عن أبيه قال

دخل على معاوية فإذا رجل يتكلم فقال بريدة يا معاوية فائذن لي في الكلام فقال نعم وهو يرى أنه سيتكلم بمثل ما قال الآخر فقال بريدة سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إني لأرجو أن أشفع يوم القيامة عدد ما على الأرض من شجرة ومدرة قال أفترجوها أنت يا معاوية ولا يرجوها علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه
