We were sitting with Rabia Jarshi discussing tila (a type of date drink) during the caliphate of Dahhak bin Qays. While we were doing so, Abdul-Rahman bin Ghanem, the companion of the Prophet ﷺ, came in to us. We said, "Bring up the topic of tila," and we discussed tila.Zayd bin Hubab said this, meaning Abdul-Rahman bin Ghanem, the companion of the Prophet ﷺ, said, "Abu Malik Ashari narrated to me that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'People from my nation will surely drink wine, calling it by a name other than its own.'"He then said, "The one who narrated this to me is more truthful than me and you, and the one who narrated it to him is more truthful than him and me."Then he said, "By Allah, besides whom there is no god, I heard it from Abu Malik Ashari, who heard it from the Prophet ﷺ." He repeated this to him three times.Dahhak said, "Shame on it as a drink, until the end of time."
حدثنا زيد بن الحباب حدثنا معاوية بن صالح حدثني حاتم بن حريث
كنا جلوسا مع ربيعة الجرشي فتذاكرنا الطلاء في خلافة الضحاك بن قيس فإنا لكذلك إذ دخل علينا عبد الرحمن بن غنم صاحب النبي ﷺ فقلنا اذكروا الطلاء فتذاكرنا الطلاء كذا قال زيد بن الحباب يعني عبد الرحمن بن غنم صاحب النبي ﷺ فقال حدثني أبو مالك الأشعري أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يقول ليشربن ناس من أمتي الخمر يسمونها بغير اسمها والذي حدثني أصدق مني ومنك والذي حدثني به أصدق منه ومني فقال والله الذي لا إله إلا هو لقد سمعته من أبي مالك الأشعري سمعه من النبي ﷺ فردده عليه ثلاثا فقال الضحاك أف له من شراب آخر الدهر
