The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the dawn prayer, then ascended the pulpit and addressed us until the time for the noon prayer arrived. He came down, prayed Zuhr, then ascended the pulpit again and addressed us until the time for the afternoon prayer arrived. He came down, prayed Asr, then ascended the pulpit and addressed us until the sun set. He told us of all that had been and all that would be. The most knowledgeable among us is the one who memorized it best.
Its isnad is sahih. Azra bin Thabit bin Abu Zayd bin Akhtab, grandson of Amr bin Akhtab, narrates from his grandfather through Ilba bin Ahmar Yashkuri, and both of them are reliable. Azra's hadith appears in the Sahihayn, while Ilba's appears in Muslim. The hadith has occurred many times before. See number 1840 for something similar.
