Ibrahim brought Ismail, peace be upon them both, along with Hajar, and placed them at Mecca in the spot where Zamzam now lies. The narrator mentioned the rest of the story, then said, "She came back from Marwa to Ismail, and the spring had already gushed forth. She began scooping at the spring with her hand like this until the water gathered on its side, then she would take it with her cup and pour it into her waterskin."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah have mercy on her. Had she left it alone, it would have been a flowing spring streaming forth until the Day of Resurrection."

Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari narrated the story at length with the same meaning, and also in a shortened form, in 5:33 and 6:283–292, through Ayub Sakhtiyani and Kathir bin Kathir, from Saeed bin Jubayr. See also 3250, 3390.
