Sahl bin Saad reported,

A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a woven cloak that had two borders.Sahl asked, "Do you know what a burdah is?"They said, "Yes, it is a wrap."Sahl said, "Yes."She said, "Messenger of Allah, I wove this with my own hands and brought it so that I might clothe you with it." The Prophet ﷺ took it, being in need of it, and then came out to us wearing it as his lower garment.A certain man, whom he named, felt it and said, "How beautiful this cloak is! Clothe me with it, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Yes."When the Prophet ﷺ went back inside, he folded it and sent it to the man.The people said to him, "By Allah, you did not do well. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wore it because he needed it, then you asked him for it, knowing that he never refuses anyone who asks."The man replied, "By Allah, I did not ask him for it to wear. I asked him for it so that it might be my burial shroud on the day I die."Sahl said, "And it was indeed his shroud on the day he died."
