The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us delivering an admonition and said, "People, you will be gathered to Allah barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised. 'As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. That is a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it' [Anbiya 21:104]. Truly, the first of creation to be clothed on the Day of Resurrection will be Ibrahim. Some people from my community will be brought forth and taken to the left, so I will say, 'My companions!' But it will be said to me, 'You do not know what they introduced after you.' Then I will say what the righteous servant said, 'And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but when You took me, You were the Watcher over them, and You are Witness over all things' [Maidah 5:117], up to 'they are Your servants, and if You forgive them, indeed You are the Mighty, the Wise' [Maidah 5:118]. Then it will be said, 'These people never ceased turning back on their heels from the moment you parted from them.'"Shuba said, He dictated it to Sufyan, and Sufyan dictated it to me on the spot.
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a longer version of 2096. As for the statement at the end of the hadith, "Shubah said, Sufyan dictated it to me," and so on, meaning he dictated it to him. Farra said, "Amlaltu" is the dialect of the people of Hijaz and Banu Assad, while "Amlaytu" is the dialect of Banu Tamim and Qays. What is meant is that Shubah heard this hadith from Mughira bin Numan together with Sufyan Thawri, and that Mughira dictated it to Sufyan, who then immediately dictated it to Shubah.
