The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the state of ihram in the year of Hudaybiyyah, but Abu Qatada did not. He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed that there was an enemy at Ghaiqah, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out.While I was with my companions, some of them began laughing to one another. I looked up and saw a wild donkey. I asked them to help me, but they refused. So I charged at it and brought it down. We ate some of its meat, but feared we would be cut off from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.I set out to catch up with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, pushing my horse fast at times and riding at a steady pace at other times. In the middle of the night, I met a man from the tribe of Banu Ghifar and asked him, "Where did you leave the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "I left him at Tahin, on the way toward Suqya."I caught up with him and said, "Messenger of Allah, your companions send you their greetings of peace and the mercy of Allah. They fear they will be cut off from you, so please wait for them."So he waited for them.I said, "I caught a wild donkey, and I have some of it left."The Prophet ﷺ said to the people, "Eat," though they were in the state of ihram.

أحرم رسول الله ﷺ عام الحديبية ولم يحرم أبو قتادة قال وحدث رسول الله ﷺ أن عدوا بفيقة فانطلق رسول الله ﷺ فبينما أنا مع أصحابي فضحك بعضهم إلى بعض فنظرت فإذا أنا بحمار وحش فاستعنتهم فأبوا أن يعينوني فحملت عليه فأثبته فأكلنا من لحمه وخشينا أن نقتطع فانطلقت أطلب رسول الله ﷺ فجعلت أرفع فرسي شأوا وأسير شأوا ولقيت رجلا من بني غفار في جوف الليل فقلت أين تركت رسول الله ﷺ قال تركته وهو بتعهن وهو مما يلي السقيا فأدركته فقلت يا رسول الله إن أصحابك يقرئونك السلام ورحمة الله وقد خشوا أن يقتطعوا دونك فانتظرهم قال فانتظرهم قلت وقد أصبت حمار وحش وعندي منه فاضلة فقال للقوم كلوا وهم محرمون
