Abu Qatada reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lead us in prayer. In the first two units of the afternoon and noon prayers, he would recite the opening chapter along with two other surahs, and at times he would let us hear a verse. In the last two units, he would recite only the opening chapter. He would lengthen the first unit of the dawn prayer and the first unit of the noon prayer.

عن عبد الله بن أبي قتادة عن أبيه قال

كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي بنا فيقرأ في العصر والظهر في الركعتين الأوليين بسورتين وأم الكتاب وكان يسمعنا الأحيان الآية ويقرأ في الركعتين الأخيرتين بأم الكتاب وكان يطيل أول ركعة من صلاة الفجر وأول ركعة من صلاة الظهر
