The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who will guarantee me one thing, and I will guarantee him Paradise in return?"Thawban said, "I will."He said, "Do not ask people for anything."After that, whenever Thawban's whip fell while he was riding, he would not ask anyone to hand it to him, but would dismount and pick it up himself.
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا ابن أبي ذئب عن محمد بن قيس عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد
قال رسول الله ﷺ من يتقبل لي بواحدة وأتقبل له بالجنة قال قلت أنا قال لا تسأل الناس شيئا فكان ثوبان يقع سوطه وهو راكب فلا يقول لأحد ناولنيه حتى ينزل فيتناوله
Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Qays is al-Asadi al-Walibi. Yaqub, Ajli, and Ibn Hibban rated him trustworthy, and his hadith appears in Muslim. Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid is Ibn Muawiya al-Umawi. He was a righteous man, and Abu Zura and Ibn Hibban rated him trustworthy. They said, "The sons of Yazid were among the righteous Umayyads, unlike their father." The hadith was mentioned previously at 22266.
