I asked, "Prophet of Allah, what was the very beginning of your affair?"He replied, "The supplication of my father Ibrahim, the glad tidings of Isa, and my mother saw that a light came forth from her by which the palaces of Sham were illuminated."

قلت يا نبي الله ما كان أول بدء أمرك قال دعوة أبي إبراهيم وبشرى عيسى ورأت أمي أنه يخرج منها نور أضاءت منها قصور الشام
Its chain of transmission is hasan, because of Faraj bin Fadala. A group of scholars declared him daif, while Ahmad deemed his narrations reliable when he narrated from the Levantines, which is the case here. Ibn Main said in one report that he was salih, and in another that there was no harm in him. Ibn Abu Shayba said he was middling. Abu Hatim said his hadith could be recorded.As for Luqman bin Amir, Ajli and Ibn Hibban declared him reliable, and Abu Hatim said his hadith could be recorded.Haythami graded the hadith hasan, from the route of Ahmad, 8/222. It is also found in Tabarani, 8/253, no. 630, in Tabari's Tafsir, 1/435, and in Bayhaqi's Dalail, 1/69.
