Abu Umama reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah sent me as a mercy and guidance for all the worlds, and He commanded me to destroy wind instruments and kubarat, meaning lutes and stringed instruments, and the idols that were worshipped in the days of ignorance. My Lord has sworn by His might that no servant of Mine shall drink a single gulp of wine except that I will give him in its place a drink from the boiling water of Hell, whether punished or forgiven. And no one shall give it to a young child to drink except that I will give him in its place a drink from the boiling water of Hell, whether punished or forgiven. And no servant of Mine shall abstain from it out of fear of Me except that I will give him to drink from the sacred enclosure. Their sale is not lawful, nor their purchase, nor teaching them, nor trading in them, and their prices are forbidden, referring to the singing girls."Yazid said, "The kubarat are lutes."

عن النبي ﷺ قال إن الله عز وجل بعثني رحمة وهدى للعالمين وأمرني أن أمحق المزامير والكبارات يعني البرابط والمعازف والأوثان التي كانت تعبد في الجاهلية وأقسم ربي عز وجل بعزته لا يشرب عبد من عبيدي جرعة من خمر إلا سقيته مكانها من حميم جهنم معذبا أو مغفورا له ولا يسقيها صبيا صغيرا إلا سقيته مكانها من حميم جهنم معذبا أو مغفورا له ولا يدعها عبد من عبيدي من مخافتي إلا سقيتها إياه من حظيرة القدس ولا يحل بيعهن ولا شراؤهن ولا تعليمهن ولا تجارة فيهن وأثمانهن حرام للمغنيات قال يزيد الكبارات البرابط
