Abu Umama reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said, and it was also narrated to us through this same chain that the Prophet ﷺ said, "My Lord offered to turn the valley of Makkah into gold for me, but I said, 'No, my Lord. Rather let me be full one day and hungry the next,' or words to that effect, 'so that when I am hungry I may beseech You and remember You, and when I am full I may praise You and thank You.'"

عن النبي ﷺ قال وحدثنا بهذا الإسناد عن النبي ﷺ قال عرض علي ربي عز وجل ليجعل لي بطحاء مكة ذهبا فقلت لا يا رب ولكن أشبع يوما وأجوع يوما أو نحو ذلك فإذا جعت تضرعت إليك وذكرتك وإذا شبعت حمدتك وشكرتك
