I saw Muawiya circling the House with Abdullah bin Abbas on his left. I was following close behind them, listening to their conversation.Muawiya began touching the corner of the Stone, so Ibn Abbas said to him, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not touch these two corners."Muawiya replied, "Leave me alone, Ibn Abbas. There is no part of it that is to be neglected."Ibn Abbas kept saying nothing more to him than this, and every time Muawiya placed his hand on either of the two corners, Ibn Abbas would repeat the same words to him.

Its isnad is sahih. Hasan bin Musa is al-Ashyab of Baghdad, judge of Tabaristan, Mosul, and Hims. He is trustworthy and firm, one of the teachers of Ahmad. Ahmad said, he is one of the most firmly grounded people of Baghdad. Abu Khaythama is Zuhayr bin Muawiya. The hadith was narrated by Tirmidhi, 2:92, in abbreviated form, through Sufyan and Maamar from Ibn Khuthaym, and he said, hasan sahih. His commentator also attributed it to Hakim. See 1877, where we have already referred to Tirmidhi's narration.
