The Prophet ﷺ said, "Healing lies in three things, a drink of honey, the incision of a cupper, and cauterization with fire, but I forbid my community from cauterization."
حدثنا مروان بن شجاع قال ما أحفظه إلا سالم الأفطس الجزري ابن عجلان حدثني عن سعيد بن جبير
النبي ﷺ الشفاء في ثلاثة شربة عسل وشرطة محجم وكية نار وأنهى أمتي عن الكي
Its isnad is sahih. Salim bin Ajlan Aftas Jazari is trustworthy, though he has been criticized regarding irja. As for Marwan bin Shuja's statement, "I do not remember it" and so on, he means that he heard it from Salim bin Ajlan but had some doubt about it. This doubt is removed by his definite statement that he heard it directly from him, as recorded in Bukhari and Ibn Majah.The apparent wording of the passage suggests that the hadith is a mawquf report attributed only to Ibn Abbas, but his statement at the end, "and I forbid my nation from cauterization," indicates that it is in fact marfu. Bukhari added, in his narration at 10:115–116, at the end of it, the raising of the hadith to the Prophet, and then narrated it again immediately afterward as marfu. Likewise, in Ibn Majah's narration at 2:184, at the end of the hadith, it says, "he raised it to the Prophet."
