I heard a man from among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ named Maymun bin Sinbadh say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The sustenance of my nation lies in its worst people.'" He said it three times.

Its isnad is daif, due to the unknown status of Dinar, the father of Harun, as noted in al-Taajeel, page 273, number 1090. They also declared Harun bin Dinar daif, except that Abu Hatim said of him, "A shaykh." Sulayman bin Ayub is accepted in hadith and truthful. The hadith is found in Tabarani's al-Saghir 1/65, number 80, and Bukhari mentioned it in Tarikh al-Kabir 7/338.
