He had come to the Prophet ﷺ, and his name was Zahm, so the Prophet ﷺ named him Bashir.

Its chain of transmission is sahih. (1) He is Abdullah bin Hanzala bin Abu Amir the Monk, whose name was Abd bin Amr bin Sayfi bin Zayd. His father was al-Ghaseel (the Washed One), Ghaseel al-Malaika (the one washed by the angels). He went out on the day of Uhud to the battlefield while in a state of major ritual impurity and was killed. This was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "The angels washed him." So a cousin of his went and found his head wet with water.As for Abdullah, the Prophet ﷺ died when he was seven years old. The Ansar pledged allegiance to him on the day of Harrah to defend Madinah, and he was killed along with those who were with him, and seven of his sons were martyred.
