Bashir asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Shall I fast on Friday and not speak to anyone that day?"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Do not fast on Friday alone, unless it falls within days of which it is one, or within a month of fasting. As for not speaking to anyone, by my life, that you speak what is right and forbid what is wrong is better than that you remain silent."
حدثنا أبو الوليد وعفان قالا ثنا عبيد الله بن إياد بن لقيط سمعت إياد بن لقيط يقول
إن بشيرا سأل النبي ﷺ أصوم يوم الجمعة ولا أكلم ذلك اليوم أحدا فقال النبي ﷺ لا تصم يوم الجمعة إلا في أيام هو أحدها أو في شهر وأما أن لا تكلم أحدا فلعمري لأن تكلم بمعروف وتنهى عن منكر خير من أن تسكت
Its isnad is sahih. Layla, the wife of Bashir, is acceptable as a narrator, though it is said that she was a companion of the Prophet, and this is what is stated in Usud al-Ghabah 7/258. Haythami said in 3/199, "Its narrators are trustworthy." The hadith has already appeared in similar wording at 10374.
