The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The caliphate in my nation will last thirty years, then it will become a kingdom after that."Then Safina said to me, "Count the caliphate of Abu Bakr, the caliphate of Umar, the caliphate of Uthman, and count the caliphate of Ali, may Allah be pleased with them all."He said, "We found it to be thirty years."Then I looked into the caliphs after that and did not find that thirty years applied to them.I said to Saeed, "Where did you meet Safina?"He replied, "I met him at Batn Nakhl during the time of Hajjaj, and I stayed with him for eight nights asking him about the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."He said, "I asked him, 'What is your name?'"He answered, "I will not tell you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ named me Safina."I asked, "Why did he name you Safina?"He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out with his companions, and their belongings became too heavy for them. So he said to me, 'Spread out your cloak.' I spread it out, and they placed their belongings in it. Then they loaded it onto me, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'Carry it, for you are but a ship (safina).' Even if I had carried that day the load of one camel, or two, or three, or four, or five, or six, or seven, it would not have been heavy upon me, unless they were harsh with me."
حدثنا أبو النضر حدثنا حشرج ابن نباتة العبسي كوفي حدثنا سعيد بن جمهان حدثني
قال رسول الله ﷺ الخلافة في أمتي ثلاثون سنة ثم ملكا بعد ذلك ثم قال لي سفينة أمسك خلافة أبي بكر وخلافة عمر وخلافة عثمان وأمسك خلافة علي رضي الله تعالى عنهم قال فوجدناها ثلاثين سنة ثم نظرت بعد ذلك في الخلفاء فلم أجده يتفق لهم ثلاثون فقلت لسعيد أين لقيت سفينة قال لقيته ببطن نخل في زمن الحجاج فأقمت عنده ثمان ليال أسأله عن أحاديث رسول الله ﷺ قال قلت له ما اسمك قال ما أنا بمخبرك سماني رسول الله ﷺ سفينة قلت ولم سماك سفينة قال خرج رسول الله ﷺ ومعه أصحابه فثقل عليهم متاعهم فقال لي ابسط كساءك فبسطته فجعلوا فيه متاعهم ثم حملوه علي فقال لي رسول الله ﷺ احمل فإنما أنت سفينة فلو حملت يومئذ وقر بعير أو بعيرين أو ثلاثة أو أربعة أو خمسة أو ستة أو سبعة ما ثقل علي إلا أن يجفوا
