He heard Sufyan bin Abu Zuhayr, a man from Shanuah and one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, telling some people who were with him at the door of the mosque. Sufyan said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever keeps a dog that is of no benefit to him for guarding crops or livestock, a qirat will be deducted from his deeds each day.'"Someone asked him, "Did you really hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes, by the Lord of this mosque."
حدثنا روح حدثنا مالك بن أنس عن يزيد بن خصيفة
أنه سمع سفيان بن أبي زهير وهو رجل من شنوءة من أصحاب النبي ﷺ يحدث ناسا معه عند باب المسجد يقول سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من اقتنى كلبا لا يغني عنه زرعا ولا ضرعا نقص من عمله كل يوم قيراط قال أنت سمعت هذا من رسول الله ﷺ قال إي ورب هذا المسجد
