The Prophet ﷺ had him ride behind him from Arafah. The people said, "Our companion will tell us what he did."Usama said that when the Prophet ﷺ departed from Arafah, he loosened the reins of his mount until its head touched the middle of the saddle, or nearly did, while gesturing to the people with his hand, saying, "Calmly, calmly, calmly," until he reached Jam.Then he had Fadl bin Abbas ride behind him. The people said, "Our companion will tell us what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did."Fadl said that he kept moving at a gentle pace, like his pace the day before, until he came upon the valley of Muhassir, where he urged his mount forward until the ground leveled out beneath him.
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا عمر بن ذر عن مجاهد
أن النبي ﷺ أردفه من عرفة قال فقال الناس سيخبرنا صاحبنا ما صنع قال قال أسامة لما دفع من عرفة فوقع كف رأس راحلته حتى أصاب رأسها واسطة الرحل أو كاد يصيبه يشير إلى الناس بيده السكينة السكينة السكينة حتى أتى جمعا ثم أردف الفضل بن عباس قال فقال الناس يخبرنا صاحبنا بما صنع رسول الله ﷺ فقال الفضل لم يزل يسير سيرا لينا كسيره بالأمس حتى أتى على وادي محسر فدفع فيه حتى استوت به الأرض
