The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the ritual bath after a state of major impurity. When he came out, he noticed a small spot on his left shoulder that the water had not reached, so he took some moisture from his hair, wet the spot with it, and then proceeded to the prayer.
حدثنا علي بن عاصم حدثنا أبو علي الرحبي عن عكرمة أخبرنا
اغتسل رسول الله ﷺ من جنابة فلما خرج رأى لمعة على منكبه الأيسر لم يصبها الماء فأخذ من شعره فبلها ثم مضى إلى الصلاة
Its chain is daif. Abu Ali Rahbi is Husayn bin Qays Wasiti, whose nickname was Hanash, and he is daif. Bukhari said in al-Kabir 1/2/389, "Ahmad abandoned his hadith," and said something similar in al-Sagheer 161, and likewise in al-Duafa. Nasai said in al-Duafa, "His hadith is discarded." Abu Hatim said, "His hadith is daif and objectionable."Lumah, with the lam vowelled with u and the mim silent, Ibn Athir said, "He meant a small patch on his body that the water had not reached, which originally refers to a patch of vegetation when it begins to dry out."
