Usama bin Zayd reported,

One of the daughters of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent word to him that a child of hers, a son or a daughter, was on the verge of death, asking him to come to them.He sent word back conveying his greetings of peace, saying, "To Allah belongs what He takes and what He gives, and everything with Him has an appointed term, so let her be patient and seek reward from Allah."She sent again, insisting by oath that he come. So he stood up, and we stood with him. The child was lifted onto, or into, the lap of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, with his breath rattling in his chest. Among the group were Saad bin Ubada and Ubayy, I believe. The eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ overflowed with tears.Saad said to him, "What is this, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "This is mercy that Allah places in the hearts of whichever of His servants He wills. Allah shows mercy only to those of His servants who are merciful."
