Usama bin Zayd reported,

Ali entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and found him in a state of sadness. He asked him what was troubling him, and the Prophet ﷺ replied, "Jibreel has not come to me for three days."Then a puppy was found between his rooms, so he ordered that it be killed. After that, Jibreel appeared to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ hurried toward him when he saw him and asked, "Why did you not come to me?"Jibreel replied, "We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or images."

عن أسامة بن زيد قال

دخلت على رسول الله ﷺ وعليه الكآبة فسألته ما له فقال لم يأتني جبريل منذ ثلاث قال فإذا جرو كلب بين بيوته فأمر به فقتل فبدا له جبريل عليه السلام فبهش إليه رسول الله ﷺ حين رآه فقال لم تأتني فقال إنا لا ندخل بيتا فيه كلب ولا تصاوير
